Hiking

Lost Trail Cabins adjoins Shawnee National Forest and some of the best hiking trails in the area.

From your cabin a short hike takes you straight into “Big Rock Creek”, a creek containing beautiful boulders, waterfalls, and natural pools to swim in.  You will see natural rock shelves containing stalactites, primitive Indian hideouts and an abundance of fossils in the bedrock of the creek.  Big Rock Creek takes you nearly a kilometer into the heart of Shawnee and into the Kinkaid Creek Bottoms.  From these bottoms you are only a couple hundred yards from Kinkaid Lake at Johnson Creek Recreation Area.  Hike away from the lake and up Little Kinkaid Creek to the rock bluffs, Indian hideouts, and a waterfall with a pool at the bottom called “Robinson Falls”.  The adventurous hiker can hike south and all the way to Kinkaid Cave and Crazy Joes Fish House.  Ask for a trail map at the office.
